Hi, I’m Charlene! Originally from the suburbs, I made my way to the city as soon as I could, having lived the past nine years in Vancouver, Canada. Yet in a plot twist that is probably funny to everyone but me, I have unexpectedly moved to Coquitlam (a suburb of Vancouver) with my husband and daughter.
I work at a contemporary art gallery and write poetry, fiction, and non-fiction (including this blog). I spent my university years in two capital cities: Ottawa for my Bachelor of Humanities (Carleton University) and Victoria for my Master’s in English (UVic).
I write about where I live and new or old cities I occasionally visit. I write about art on streets and in galleries, poetry in books or on skyscrapers, books I’m reading, music I’m listening to, artsy projects taking over my living room, and whatever else is inspiring me lately.
Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to contact me if you’re looking for a writer/editor or would like to use any of my stuff.
Did you do your MA at SFU by any chance? I just completed mine last fall in the Liberal Studies p program, doing my thesis project on public art (which is why I keep asking you about using some of your images!)
No I did it at UVic. Sounds like we have similar interests though!
